PrivacyMost of it stays on your computer.

Deskiee has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting. This page lists everything the app and this website keep, and the few things that leave your computer.

What the app keeps

The app keeps its settings and its memory on your computer: which bird you chose, the visitors in your field guide, the song your bird is learning, and roughly when you were last around so it can say hello again. If you choose your own pictures for the pet, those are kept there too. None of it is sent to us.

To find somewhere to land, the app reads where your open windows are and how big they are. It does not read window titles or what is inside them. To nap while you are away, it reads one number from your system: how long since you last moved the mouse or pressed a key. It never sees which keys you press.

Your licence key is saved in the app’s folder on your computer and checked there, without going online. The key carries the buyer’s name, an order number and the date of purchase. Settings shows the name.

What leaves your computer

Only what you switch on

Out of the box the app does not connect to the internet. Two things can change that:

  • Stream mode. If you turn it on and enter a Twitch channel, the app connects to Twitch’s chat server to read that channel’s chat, without logging in, so viewers can play with your bird. Twitch sees that connection and the channel name, as it would for any chat viewer. Chat messages are read on your computer and are not sent to us. Twitch’s own privacy notice applies to Twitch.
  • The Steam version. When you run Deskiee from Steam, it asks the Steam app on your computer whether your account owns it. Steam’s privacy policy applies to what Steam records.

For streaming, the app also runs a small page at 127.0.0.1 that your streaming software can show. That address only answers on your own computer; other computers on your network or the internet cannot reach it. It shares the app’s settings, including any pictures you chose, with programs on your computer that ask for that address.

This website

The website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Like any website, it is served by a hosting company, Vercel, whose servers receive the usual details of each visit, such as your IP address and browser type. To confirm: what Vercel logs for this project and how long it keeps it. Vercel’s privacy policy applies to that.

The share button on the home page uses your device’s own share menu or copies the address. Nothing about it is sent to us.

When the store opens, you will swap the licence code from your receipt for an app key on this site. The code goes to our server, which asks Polar whether it belongs to a paid, unrefunded order. From Polar’s answer we take only the buyer’s name and the order number to make the key, and we do not log the code, the key or the name.

Payments and email

Payments and email

Purchases are sold and processed by Polar, the merchant of record for Deskiee. Polar collects your payment details, email and billing address, sends your receipt and handles tax. We do not see your card details. Polar’s privacy policy applies to that information. To confirm: which order details Polar shares with WorQFlow Inc. (for example name and email) and how long we keep them.

If you email support@deskiee.com, we keep the message and your address to answer you. To confirm: email provider and how long support email is kept.

Who we are

Who is responsible

Deskiee is made and sold by WorQFlow Inc., a Minnesota corporation in the United States, which is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at support@deskiee.com.

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, write to support@deskiee.com. Everything the app keeps is on your computer: uninstalling the app and deleting its folder removes it. To confirm with a lawyer: GDPR (legal basis, EU/UK representative, transfers) and CCPA wording, and whether either applies.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date. To confirm: effective date.
